Curriculum Vitae

I was born in 1959 in Urmia and moved to Tehran when I was four years old. I started my education in Tehran. I showed such great interest in sports and art since early childhood that I did not see anything else. I was either drawing something or playing with a plastic ball.
Due to the weakness of the educational system in art, our Persian and math teacher was also our art teacher and he usually knew nothing about art and functioned as the supervisor of the drawing class. I remember that in elementary school and middle school, my teacher told me to go to the board and draw something or write a calligraphy model so that other students would follow my model. I gradually started to wonder: who should I learn from? Even from childhood, I had a subconscious sense of teaching which was always with me and made me restless. Later, I recognized this feeling in poetry and literature; it was love. It is the melody coming from everything and what opens to talk… the same thing that unsettles peace and pacifies agitation.
My first triumph was when I was at the first grade of middle school and I achieved the first and second places in calligraphy and drawing in the art competitions held among the districts of Tehran. Our reward was a one-week camping trip to Ramsar. Afterwards, I went to Boys’ Fine Arts High School of Tehran and I achieved the second rank among at least 300 participants of the admission examination. Here, I was indulged in the teachings of my instructors in painting, Asadollahzadeh, Alivandi and Izadpanah, in sculpture, Azar Fahimi and in Iranian painting, Takestani, Mehregan and Farshchian. I graduated from the fine arts high school in 1979 and thereafter, the untouched nature became my everlasting instructor.
